Ziva Community Initiative (ZCI) participated in Nigerian Mining Week 2026, contributing to conversations on responsible mining, community relations and women’s inclusion in the mining sector.
At the ESG and Sustainability panel, “From Consent to Social Licence: Community Relations Across the Mine,” Ziva highlighted the importance of meaningful community engagement, transparent communication, effective Community Development Agreements (CDAs) and accountability in building trust between mining companies and host communities.
Ziva also contributed to the panel on “Role of Women in Building Responsible, Sustainable Mining Projects,” emphasising the need to strengthen women’s participation in decision-making, expand economic opportunities and translate gender inclusion commitments into measurable action.
Across both sessions, Ziva reinforced a shared message: responsible mining requires communities to have a meaningful voice and women to have equitable opportunities to participate in and benefit from the sector.
Through research, stakeholder engagement and evidence-based advocacy, Ziva remains committed to advancing inclusive mining governance, community rights, gender equality and sustainable livelihoods across Nigeria’s mining communities.
