International Women’s Day 2026: From Conversation to Action

International Women’s Day 2026: From Conversation to Action

Rewind to this year’s International Women’s Day and our call to action: putting women and their work at the centre of conversations about mining and agriculture.

At a Breakfast Roundtable which held on the 15th of April, 2016, convened by Ziva Community Initiative in collaboration with the Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRiNG) Programme and Women in Mining Nigeria (Plateau State Chapter), with support from Engaging Borders SRD, women miners and key stakeholders discussed barriers to women’s economic inclusion.

Conversations highlighted persistent gaps in access to finance and economic opportunities, as well as women’s representation in decision-making.

One message was clear: women are already driving impact across mining and agriculture. What is needed is greater recognition, meaningful inclusion and deliberate support.

The roundtable strengthened partnerships, reinforced shared commitments and highlighted the need to translate dialogue into practical action.

At Ziva Community Initiative, we remain committed to advancing women’s economic participation and ensuring that women have a meaningful voice in shaping the future of mining and agriculture.
