RECLAIM Project Strengthens RECLAIM Project Strengthens Partnerships for Resilient Mining Communities

Through the SPRiNG-funded Resilient Communities through Inclusive Mining Governance, Peacebuilding and Land Restoration (RECLAIM) project, Ziva Community Initiative (ZCI) is strengthening stakeholder collaboration to promote responsible mining, peacebuilding and sustainable livelihoods.

In September 2026, ZCI engaged security agencies, traditional leaders and community representatives to secure support for project implementation.

Key Outcomes

• NSCDC: Committed to collaboration on responsible mining, community sensitisation, conflict referral and security monitoring.
• Community representatives: Committed to supporting beneficiary selection and mobilisation in Kum-Dabwam.
• Traditional leadership: The Gwom Rwei of Riyom and six ward heads endorsed the project and requested relocation from Jol to Kum-Dabwam due to security concerns.
• CJTF: Committed to providing security coordination and escort support for project field visits.

These engagements strengthened stakeholder buy-in and established a foundation for safer, more inclusive project implementation.

Through RECLAIM, ZCI continues to promote inclusive mining governance, peaceful community relations and land restoration in mining-affected communities.
